COVID-19 Update 4

March 26, 2020

PRS family,

Alabama Governor Kay Ivey and Alabama State Superintendent of Education Dr. Eric Mackey just concluded a press conference where they announced that schools in Alabama will not physically open for the rest of the school year. We will be allowed to begin E-learning via internet access on April 6th.  Our educators have been planning for this for two weeks.

There will be a web meeting for Alabama school superintendents with Dr. Mackey on Friday morning March 27th where we will hear more details about what we will be allowed to do. The Pike Road Schools leadership team will be meeting after the webinar to finalize the plans we have been working on.

Pike Road Schools will communicate our plans for e-learning on Monday, March 30th. PRS is committed to the success of every child at Pike Road Schools and meeting the diverse needs of all of our learners. We are focused on eliminating gaps in learning that could occur due to this unique situation. The PRS team looks forward to working together to help our students complete this school year.

Pike Road Schools has long awaited graduating its first senior class. This pandemic has thrown us a curve, but be assured we are planning ways to not only get all of our seniors graduated, but also to celebrate their accomplishments as the first seniors of Pike Road City Schools.

Thank you for your continued support of Pike Road Schools! Never has there been a time more appropriate for our motto to be implemented: "Think, Innovate, Create".

May God bless you and Pike Road Schools through all of this.

Dr. Chuck Ledbetter
Superintendent, Pike Road Schools
